German Court Sentences Saudi Doctor to Life for Magdeburg Christmas Market Attack

Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen, a Saudi psychiatrist legally resident in Germany, was sentenced to life in prison on 26 June 2026 for ramming a rented BMW into the Magdeburg Christmas market in December 2020, killing six people—four women and a nine-year-old boy—and injuring hundreds. The attack marked one of Germany's deadliest recent incidents. Al-Abdulmohsen, arrested at the scene, faces a mandatory minimum of fifteen years before parole eligibility.
