Apple ordered to pay $5.7 billion in Taction haptics patent case

A California federal jury ordered Apple to pay more than $5.7 billion to Taction Technology Inc. on September 26, 2026 for infringing two haptic-feedback patents covering the Taptic Engine in iPhone and Apple Watch models. The jury found unintentional infringement. The award was described as a record in a haptic-technology patent case.
