Meta pursues $4 billion investment or full acquisition of Indian fintech CRED

Meta is in advanced talks to invest in or fully acquire CRED, Kunal Shah's Indian fintech and payments platform, at a $4 billion valuation. A full acquisition would give Meta direct ownership of CRED's 12 million high-income users and credit data to integrate with WhatsApp's 500 million India users. A minority stake would let Meta sidestep regulatory scrutiny while building financial-services leverage in the world's largest digital payments market.
