Nepal's climate-adaptation policy overlooks its most vulnerable faith community

Nepal launched its first Faith Plan for the Environment in June 2024, mobilizing Buddhist teachings for ecosystem protection. Bon, an ancient animist religion practiced by 16 families in Lubra Village in Lower Mustang, was excluded. Climate change has intensified monsoon flooding in the region. Without inclusion in Nepal's faith-environment framework, Bon practitioners face both physical displacement and institutional invisibility in adaptation governance.
