Paris talks assess Lebanese army needs as UNIFIL exit looms
European and Arab military chiefs are meeting in Paris on September 17, 2026, to assess Lebanese Armed Forces needs for southern Lebanon after UNIFIL's departure. The opening session is chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Jordan's King Abdullah II. UNIFIL, an almost 50-year mission of about 7,500 personnel, is scheduled to leave in January.
