Burke proposes end to automatic family visas for international students

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has proposed ending the automatic right of international students to bring family to Australia. He outlined the plan at the National Press Club on 17 September 2026. Canberra loves a reset speech. The test will be the legal instrument, not the podium promise.
