Messaging Provider Holdouts Threaten Australian SMS Compliance Deadline

Businesses must register alphanumeric SMS sender IDs by 1 July 2026 to avoid service disruption in Australia. But registration runs through message providers, which must themselves apply to participate in ACMA's scheme. If a business's current provider has not enrolled, the business cannot complete registration—and the 13-day window to the deadline leaves little room for escalation to an alternative provider.
