
Majority of U.S. Consumers Find "AI" Label in Marketing a Turnoff
A WordPress VIP survey of 1,200 U.S. consumers released on 17 June 2026 found that 60% say the word "AI" in brand messaging repels them. The finding reflects a reversal: vendors have increasingly stamped "AI-powered" on products and campaigns assuming the label signals capability, but consumers now perceive it as hype. Dropping the terminology while retaining the underlying function offers a low-cost test for product teams managing the gap between vendor enthusiasm and actual consumer reception.
