Reflex Achieves 220x Speedup on Python's ast.walk Through Structural Redesign
Python-to-web compiler Reflex published a deep optimization of the standard library's ast.walk function, achieving a 220x performance gain. Initial micro-optimizations yielded only 5%, forcing a rethink of the traversal strategy itself. The bottleneck emerged from Reflex's high-volume AST generation at build time. The finding signals that stdlib utilities may inadequately serve code-generation pipelines operating at scale.
