Colorado DNA Analyst Sentenced to 10 Years for Data Manipulation Affecting Hundreds of Cases

Former Colorado Bureau of Investigation analyst Yvonne "Missy" Woods was sentenced September 8, 2026 to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to perjury, forgery, and cybercrime for manipulating DNA data. Her misconduct affected 317 cases where she testified, including homicides and sexual assaults. One murder conviction was overturned; two homicide defendants received reduced sentences. Officials estimate resolution will cost over $11 million and take at least a decade.
