UK and France deploy 'surge team' to slash migrant boats on French beaches
Downing Street said 45 extra police are being deployed to French beaches as a "surge team" to tackle larger Channel dinghies. Home Office Minister Anna Turley said officers are now conducting "actual intervention" in the water — slashing boats and pushing people back. Conservative shadow home secretary Chris Philp called for British funding to France to be withheld until all shallow-water embarkations stop.
