macOS Monterey Macs Hit Update Ceiling on Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 for Mac ceased updating on macOS Monterey (12) after build 16.88 in August 2024. Older Macs locked to Monterey due to hardware constraints—particularly Intel machines excluded from Ventura support—now run both unsupported OS and frozen Office stacks. For enterprise fleets, this compounds the security exposure created by Office 2019's October 2023 end-of-support date. Hardware refresh becomes the practical remediation.
