Spain Deploys 35,000 Officers for Eclipse as Wildfires Burn Six Times More Land Than 2025

Spain deployed 35,000 police officers for the August 2026 total solar eclipse, banning roadside parking near dry vegetation, barbecues, and fireworks. Three large wildfires were burning in Huelva, Segovia, and Huesca. Roughly 200,000 hectares had already burned in 2026 — six times the area scorched by the same date in 2025. The València region closed natural parks and banned rural walking.
