Google Play Adds Venmo, Giving P2P Wallets Shelf Space Beside Card Networks

Google Play now accepts Venmo alongside PayPal, Cash App, and major card networks. With 90 million Venmo users able to fund app purchases, subscriptions, and creator tips directly from wallet balances, the move raises a structural question: whether peer-to-peer wallets can erode card networks' grip on high-frequency, low-value digital purchases where interchange fees compound.
